Commercial Litigation Associate Los Angeles, CA
About the Role
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate to join its Los Angeles office. This opportunity offers exposure to sophisticated business disputes on behalf of a diverse client base ranging from emerging companies to national and multinational corporations.
The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience and a desire to work on complex commercial matters involving corporate governance, business disputes, regulatory issues, professional services firms, financial institutions, real estate interests, and other high-stakes litigation. Associates will work closely with experienced litigators while receiving meaningful responsibility, direct client exposure, and opportunities to develop courtroom and deposition experience.
This position is well-suited for an attorney who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys tackling complex legal issues, and is looking to continue building a long-term career within a premier commercial litigation practice.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage substantive responsibilities across all phases of commercial litigation
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related filings
• Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written analyses
• Handle fact investigation and case development
• Manage traditional and electronic discovery processes
• Assist with and/or take and defend depositions
• Prepare witnesses and attorneys for hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trial
• Appear before state and federal courts as responsibilities develop
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop litigation strategy and achieve favorable outcomes
• Work closely with partners and senior attorneys on complex commercial disputes
Qualifications
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active California Bar admission in good standing
• 3-5 years of litigation experience preferred
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive legal filings
• Experience managing discovery, including e-discovery, document review, and written discovery
• Experience assisting with or taking and defending depositions
• Exposure to commercial litigation, business disputes, or complex civil litigation preferred
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Excellent academic credentials
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Federal clerkship experience is a plus but not required
